This next post really does mean something to me. I have had the chance to sit under the three most wonderful ladies in Pentecost. And am glad to have been able to call Sis. Lori Elder, Sis. Doretha Jones and Sis. Lorraine Bertram my Pastor's Wives or as I prefer, the First Ladies in my life. They have taught me so much and have always been there for me. I love you all very much!!!
Sis. Elder -
I have been at CGC since I was 5 years old. I have really gotten close to you the older I got. You and the Elder family mean so much to me. Jeff is an awesome young man, Mitchell is like my little brother, I love that kid, and "Melody from Heaven", me and my mom love that little girl. She and I are still going to live in a chocolate house someday together. haha. But I do want to thank you for everything. The talks we had, times we went out to eat together and the night I spent the night, me, Melody and Jazzy (hehe), and the times where I watched the kids late at night or helped pick up after a meeting at your place. You have always been there for me through my roughest times growing up even up to now. Right now we are separated by states and yet you're still right there. Thank You. I love to play the bass while you are playing, it's comforting. And Bro. Elder has showed me so much like my dad on the bass and music in general. Besides that, he is my spiritual dad, until my daddy, In JESUS NAME, gets in church. The love you have for the Spanish culture in CGC is just amazing. And you going through the classes to learn their language shows to me how dedicated and how much of a burden God has placed in your heart for other cultures and races, it truly is beautiful. You don't know how much I am blessed when you are dancing in the Spirit, it's such a beautiful thing. You show just because you're a pastor's wife doesn't mean that you are too good to shout with the rest of us. I also want to thank you for well, being you. You stepped out of the box and didn't care what I thought when you literally had to "shake some sense into me" at a Youth Camp, and because of you is where I'm at now. You really did knock some sense into me that night, and other nights when needed. But I thank you for having my best at heart. I know that there are times that you probably want to beat me ;-), but you need someone to keep you on your toes...just playin. Your meekness is not mistaken for weekness. That's for sure! I won't forget the day when you and Jeff were playing around and you threw him down...haha. I know what momma not to mess with. But not just physical, but spiritually, you are strong. I watched and listened as in prayer you tore walls and kingdoms down. You helped my family and have been such an influence in our lives. My mom, from the time we have stepped foot in CGC up til' now she still looks up to you. She loves you so much and I do think because of your influence in her life she is stronger. I know my mom is a very meek lady, but she learned from you. She's always on her knees praying for my dad and you have even had a breakthrough with my dad, which we still don't know how you did. But since that night of the play before my brother was born, my mom has grown so much especially in her walk with God. She sees how God used you and is in awe and just loves you oh so much. She always tells me, want to be something great, sell out totally to God and look at Sis. Elder as a role model, she won't stir you wrong. Which my momma is right. You observe your surroundings before speaking, which shows me your wisdom. Even when talking to you, you always have something positive to say. I know we argue on who loves who more, but I won't surrender...I LOVE YOU MORE...! You are a lady of virtue, wisdom and a heart after God. I love you so much!!!
Always,
Your Rockin'
Sis. Jones -
When I think of you, I think of a woman of faith and beauty. God did bless not only me, but CGC for several months as you and Bro. Jones and little Dillion as our pastor and family in our lives. Every time I see you, even at Heritage I get so happy and excited to see you once again. And to learn of what God has done for you since then is just amazing. In Hebrews when talking about faith, you are a true example of that. And not to ever lose sight of God. So amazing! You and I got a small chance to bond through music and other ways. But you have showed me what I know today on the organ and piano and even the drums. I remember you jumping in the drum cage telling me to play something so you can play along so I know where I'm at, and that actually helped me in playing the drums. Also in directing the choirs and singing. You helped develop my musical abilities. You were such an encourager while I was entering my freshman year of high school and helped me stand up for what I believe and not depart from it. You showed me, it's okay to go out and have fun and yet still be a lady, and a Godly lady at that. You were strict with me, but I am thankful for it. You pushed me to do things I normally didn't, but in the end it was the best. You saw the potential in me and I want to thank you for that, so...Thank You. Thank you for being the support and encourager and great teacher in my life. I love you so much!!!
Sis. Bertram -
Wow! Where do I begin? Well, from the time I had the privilege to meet you at CGC while you and your family were on the road evangelizing I knew that there was a special bond between you and I. You and your family are so awesome! Chantal, that girl is something else. She's an amazing and beautiful young lady, she's like my little sister and just like her mom. Jonathan, he is a good friend and is very respectful. David, he always seems to put a smile on everyones face no matter what. They all seem to get these characteristics from you and your husband. It's such a beautiful relationship that you have with your children. I hope one day when I have kids, I will have the same relationship. It reminds me a lot of mine and my moms relationship. You are a very funny lady to be around, even if your driving does scare me ;-) haha, I still enjoy the times we spend together. You have really touched my heart by your kindness. I don't know why exactly God placed you in my life while I was in Colorado and now in California at Faith Mountain, but I am thankful for it. Couldn't ask for a better person to be around. Yes, you are firm with me, but I need that. Cause I know you are looking out for me. Also, with music, when you were at CGC you told me to play the piano, and well, I took your advice and learned. Sis. Jones one day asked me if I knew a Sis. Bertram, and when I told her yes, she told me okay, she said for me to make sure that you are learning and took me straight to the piano and organ. But it was you that influenced me. You have had such a positive impact in my life. You are a very special lady in my life and an anointed one at that. You have an eye to see the best in people no matter what. You push them to their limits and beyond when it comes to developing their talents or spiritual walk with God. I don't know what you saw in a little girl in Colorado and what you were thinking when you gave me your shoes right off your feet. But I tell you what, I cherish them shoes and even more, I cherish you. When I watch you, I see how you really are next to the man of God, your husband. I love the way you two act as if you were two young people dating, so cute!!! You are a true definition of a wife. You work as a team, but yet take his lead. I told my mom when I get married I want to be able to be a wife like yourself. You set a prime example for me and the church body. You are not a "Do as I say not as I do". Which is amazing because anymore we don't see that a whole lot, especially when coming to standards. But you really are a great role model. And I'm grateful for it. Thank you so much, I LOVE YOU!!!
This poem is for the 3 wonderful, precious, awesome and anointed "First Ladies" in my life.
~The Pastor's Wife~
This pastors wife poem describes the role and pressures of this very important person.
She's a Godly woman, she has such grace
Always a warm greeting, a smile on her face.
She's always encouraging, she knows her place.
She is - The Pastor's Wife.
She has to always look just right
Always on time, though the schedule's tight.
From early morning, 'til late at night
Always - The Pastor's Wife
She's such a Lady, everyone's friend
She serves with love from deep within.
All the rifts she tries to mend
Oh she's - The Pastor's Wife
She carries your burdens, she prays for you
Sometimes she cries the whole night through.
But you won't know when she's feeling blue,'
Cause she's - The Pastor's Wife
At church as she starts to walk up the aisle,
So many need to stop and talk for awhile.
Though she is tired, she has her own trials
She's patient, she's - The Pastor's Wife
Her life, her time, is not her own
There's always a need, they go on and on
With a knock at the door, or a ringing phone.
That's the life of - The Pastor's Wife
Her husband she shares with a whole congregation
She humbly accepts his intense dedication.
In loneliness she kneels to see consolationGod Bless - The Pastor's Wife
